2025 VPD Hero Calendars Now Available!
We’re launching a new campaign for the winter shopping season. “STOP! It’s a scam!” seeks to educate both shoppers and merchants about common scams: Convincing someone to “pay” for something falsely using Bitcoin or the purchase of gift cards. Posters will be placed near gift card racks and Bitcoin machines at participating businesses in the West End and Coal Harbour. These remind people that no legitimate business, agency, bank, or utility will request payment in this form. In 2025, we hope to roll out additional posters focusing on personal scams related to romance, renting, and family.

In The Community
It was all paws on deck on the Sunday before Halloween, as puplets and their companions flocked to Nelson Park for our ever-popular Howl’een event!
Volunteers passed out pet treats to the puppies who visited our table; many in costume. The idea was a dog trick earned you a treat – but being a dog is a neat trick,, so no one left empty-pawed! Plus we had treats, stickers, and activity books for kids! Thanks to everyone who stopped to say hello!
Remembering the Fallen
Our volunteers join VPD, Armed Forces personnel and others in parading and remembering this who sacrificed their lives in uniform. From the First World War to Afghanistan and the GWOT, many families in Canada have been touched by the impact of war. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on those civilians likewise victimized, and to recommit ourselves to build a world of peace. They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we WILL remember them!
