Helping to Make Vancouver Canada's Safest Major City

Since 1997, the WECHCPC has been your local resource for answering the crime & safety concerns of our neighbourhood. No one knows the community better than the people who live, work, and play there. When community members join in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department, it means we can all live more safely and without fear. An active community is a safe community.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." (Margaret Mead)

The WECHCPC is driven by volunteer power; people from the community that have a personal attachment to the area and want to make it a better place for themselves and for others. Our success depends on you, your skills, your knowledge, and your experiences. Together we make a difference.

FRAUD ALERT - IMPOSTERS USING THE WECHCPC NAME

Please be advised that there is someone calling around trying to solicit cash donations on behalf of the West End- Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre. THIS IS A SCAM. Please do NOT donate. The same "company" was posing as the RCMP Anti-Bullying Unit last year. We are aware of the situation and appreciate your patience as we deal with the situation.

Pedestrian Safety Tips

An average of 11 pedestrians lost their lives each year between 2005 and 2010 in Vancouver. Given their vulnerability, pedestrians represent about 53% of the total collision fatalities and, tragically, most incidents were preventable. Here are four simple tips for pedestrian safety, courtesy of the Vancouver Police Department: 1. make eye contact with approaching drivers and/or cyclists, 2. use designated crossing points, 3. obey the traffic signals - only enter the intersection if the pedestrian signal is being displayed and it is safe for you to do so, 4. don’t presume that drivers see you - wear reflective clothing at night if possible.

Support the WECHCPC

The West End - Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre is a non-profit organization. We are core funded by the City of Vancouver, but our expenses reach far beyond. Without the support of the community, fundraising, and donations, our office wouldn’t be where it is today. If you would like to sponsor or donate to our organization, please contact info@wechcpc.com for more information or use the Paypal button above. Your donations help us with everything from office equipment, foot and bike patrol essentials, uniforms, and the most basic necessities such as heat and power. Thank you to everyone who supports our Centre.
